CONGRATULATIONS!

Best wishes to Jack and Gail Quinn of Jordan Shore Drive on the engagement of their daughter, Mary, to Kevin Perkins of Lewiston. The wedding will take place on May 31 at St. John the Evangelist Church in So. Portland, with a reception to follow at the Portland Club. Much happiness to the new couple.

SOIL PREPARATIONS

The ideal seedbed is firm, free from plant competition, and has limited plant residue on the soil surface. On large areas, harrow or disk lightly to prepare the soil for seeding. On smaller areas, rake the soil to a depth of one to two inches. After sowing the seed uniformly over the area, the seed should be covered lightly. Use a roller or pat soil to ensure good contact between the seed and the soil. Moisture is important for seed germination and root development.
