HAPPY OCCASIONS

Linda and John Laskey (standing on right) with class of '85 Mechanic Falls High School's reunion held at their home on July 23.

CONDOLENCES

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Keith Wing, who passed away August 23, 2005 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in So. Paris.

Mr. Wing had served in the Merchant Marine during WW 11, was a gifted musician and had been the Fire Chief of the Poland Fire Department.  He had been a machinist for most of his life, working on jet engines at Pratt & Whitney in Ct.  He also owned and operated Wing’s Small Engine Repair in Poland.

He leaves his wife June, to whom he was married for 58 years, and three children, Donna, Jeff and Lester, a brother Richard and five grandchildren.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Wilford "Bill" Leonard, 75 who passed away Oct. 22, '05. He'd been a banker with Casco Northern for many years but was best-known as proprietor of Summit Springs Golf Course.

His wife Lorraine, passed away this past year. He's survived by a son, Bill Jr., daughter Mary and 3 grandchildren.

RECIPES, CAMP HISTORIES NEEDED

Publishing a TLIA cookbook requires recipes.  Though we’ve heard from many of you, we still need to hear from more.  If you’ve not yet submitted a couple of your favorites to Linda Laskey, Susan Barry or Marion Chesley, please do so.  Linda’s and Susan’s addresses are on the back of this Newsletter.  Marion’s is PO Box 29, Poland, ME 04274.

Also, send information with history of your camp to them.  With the help of Elaine Freyda of Poland Regional H. S., we hope to write a small, interesting booklet.  Thanks!

NOTICE TO MEMBERS

The Board of Directors voted to mail both the Fall and Spring Newsletters starting this year.  (Spring Newsletters had been hand-delivered after Memorial Day).  This way all TLIA members will get notice of activities planned for the summer before they open their cabins.

It was also suggested that our summer calendar be posted on the front page of our Spring Newsletter.  Your suggestions and ideas are important to us and we will continue to make changes to fit the needs of our members.

Please volunteer to write articles for the Newsletter (if you’ve a good, lake-related topic).  Call or write Babs Shapiro, Linda or Judy and let one of them know.  Addresses and telephone numbers are on the back page of this Newsletter.

Become a Board member, Officer or chair a committee that interests you.  We need your help!

Note:  Dues envelopes will be included in the Spring Newsletter.  If you wish to pay now, send dues to TLIA, PO Box 33, Poland, ME 04274.
