ANNUAL LAKE CLEANUP

On Sunday, July 10, 2005, from 8-10
a.m., TLIA members gathered at the Public Beach for its Annual
Cleanup. Those hearty souls included Del King, Babs Shapiro, Scott
and Lindy Shapiro (Quinn & Ellie, too), Marie and Bob Gresik, Mike Emsch,
George Kelley and Howard Sherman. Ben Webber also picked up all
rubbish on Garland Swamp Road and on Rt. 11, parallel to Garland Swamp.

This event is necessary in
presenting our beach as a safe and attractive resource for the
community. It’s important to keep the entire shoreline of the lake
clean and safe for all to enjoy. This year, rubber piping, tires,
thousands of cigarette butts and even jewelry were found and disposed
of.
Next year the event will be on a
Saturday morning. We will invite the local Scout Association to take
part as well. Please call for next year’s cleanup date and to add your
