I’ve really missed the calming
effect that Tripp Lake gives to me. I’ve thought about our lake
whenever life and work have gotten me down.
Every time I write a lesson plan---I
remember the sunsets.
Every time I evaluate a child---I
remember children floating on rafts.
Every time I sit through a long
meeting---I remember boat rides with the
Hinkleys.
Every time I type a report---I
remember how the lake ripples in the wind.
Every time I bundle into my down
coat---I remember bathing suits and sunscreen.
Every time I look at snow and ice---I
remember day lilies and birch trees.
Every time I see the colors red and
purple---I remember laughing with the Red Hot
Mamas.
I
did visit the lake in January when white snow blew over the ice looking
like a white desert covered with crystal sand. It was beautiful, but
not what I wanted to remember. I’m a summer lake dweller.
