TRIPP LAKE ASSOCIATION SONG

Howard Sherman and his wife, Terry, hail from Marblehead, MA., and have been Tripp Lake residents for the past few years.  Both have become involved in TLIA activities and are eager to contribute in diverse ways.

Howard was invited to the last Board of Directors meeting to possibly replace a retiring member.  He volunteered to not only chair the Annual Cleanup Day but to write a Tripp Lake song.  Never having had a song of our own, we thought it a great idea.   Here it is!

( sung to the melody of “McNamara’s Band”)

Swimming and boating, sailing and fishing
Are  sports that can’t be beat.
But if we don’t keep the Public Beach clean
You’ll have to watch your feet.

Wells and springs surround Tripp Lake
And the water is cool and clear,
We are the biggest, smallest lake
That Poland, Maine holds dear.

And if you like warm winds and rain
And summer, oh, so sweet,
Then come on down and rode a pontoon—
The sunsets can’t be beat.

Fall is quieter, temperatures cool
And summer visitors leave,
They often talk about their stay,
That Floridians won’t believe.

Winter comes with ice and snow
Sledding and ice-fishing begin,
Fires toast, winter is long,
Much to our chagrin.

But in the Spring, the colors burst,
With ice-out, the  flowers adorn,
Our lake comes alive again,
And baby loons are born.

So TLIA is very proud,
Though work is to be done,
But not without a glass of wine
And parties for everyone.

Hey!
