THOMPSON LAKE YOUTH CONSERVATION CORPS HELPS TLIA

Jeff Hackett, YCC coordinator of Thompson Lake, brought a small crew for two half days to help with various projects at Tripp.  The first day saw them planting and mulching at the Town Beach with perennials purchased by  Linda Laskey:  the boys replanted three areas that hadn’t made it over the winter.  The second day saw the group start to harvest Purple Loosestrife on Garland Swamp Road but were unable to do much due to lack of manpower.  We’re grateful for the time given but a bit disappointed that more wasn’t accomplished.

The Town of Poland had voted in 2003 to fund the YCC with $2500 to help keep the program going in 2004. The crew has done great work on Thompson and we hope someone could find a way to start such a program for Tripp Lake. It would provide good jobs for a leader and for some young people.  And think of what they could accomplish!

Anyone up for the challenge?
