The Steering Committee, a group comprised of representatives from Tripp Lake Improvement Association, Land & Water Resource Management Associates, Androscoggin Valley Soil/Water Conservation District, Maine Dept. Environmental Protection and the Town of Poland will have met four times by the time this Newsletter is published. Representatives from TLIA are Ron and Claudie Getchell , Linda Laskey, Jackie Misenheimer, Paula Smith, Joe Hayes and Barbara Shapiro. The others are Cynthia Kuhns, Scott Williams, Phoebe Hardesty, Kay Nichol, Karen Hahnel, Tom Smith and Bud Jordan. Not all can attend all meetings, but most attend a few. If you would like to participate, please let me know. No degrees required just a willingness to help. A total of eight meetings will be held before the Demonstration Project is completed. These people spend several hours at each meeting deciding which avenues to pursue regarding The Project. Education and demonstration projects, ways and methods of implementing them, are the focus of these meetings. Public meetings, including our 25th Annual meeting and the subsequent July 22 meeting, were our initial educational forums. Publicity included press releases, posters in public places, phone calls and word-of-mouth. Everyone in the Tripp Lake Watershed is invited to attend, not just Lake dwellers, and all are contacted |
