The newest and most engaging sign of all
(and we’ve put up a lot) has recently been placed at the Public Beach.
It’s a colorful map of the lake, indicating areas of interest as well
as geographic highlights.
The idea was born of funds remaining from our
Demonstration Project, monies which had been designated for technical
assistance, but became unavailable when the Project was concluded.
Rather then lose it, I suggested using it as seed money for a sign,
similar to those at State Parks, for all to enjoy.
With the help of Rick Lundstedt, Anna Lyon, Paula
Smith, Wendy Webber and Jamie Rothfus, we designed a beauty. It was
made by a Portland firm last summer, then framed, encased in hard
plastic and set on a steel post by Bill Bentley. Bud Jordan,
head of Poland’s road crew, had it installed on April 15.
