WOLF COVE INN ON GARDEN TOUR
|
| The Seventh Annual
Lewiston-Auburn Garden tour, sponsored by the Maine Music Society is
scheduled for Saturday, July 14 (yes…the same day as our annual
meeting!) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year the tour includes our own
Wolf Cove Inn as well as gardens in L-A. |
| Rose Aikman has designed her
gardens to take full advantage of the view of the lake. The garden is
sunny and inviting; she concentrates on perennials using as few annuals
as possible. Paths wend their way to benches surrounded by gardens in
soft colors. Each area is dominated by a particular color: white, blue
and purple. White flowers appear throughout, tying all the gardens
together. Daylilies, delphinium, Chinese poppies and irises from the
Bernard McLaughlin gardens are featured. |
| Other gardens on the tour are
Roy Farnsworth’s "Till Hill" in Auburn, Cyndy Bell’s on
Riverside Drive in Auburn, Alan and Vivian Merritt’s Lake Side Farm
and Lois Wagner’s and Cynthia Clifford’s neighboring gardens in
Lewiston. Each offers a different type of garden. |
 |
| For more information and
tickets, call the Society at 782-1403. Tickets will be $10 in advance,
$12 on the day of the tour. They’ll be on sale in July at Austin’s
Fine Wines & Food, The Ivy Cottage, Mr. Paperback, Roak the Florist,
Provencher Landscape Nursery and other locations.
Artists and budding artists are invited to set up their easels and
paint in one of the gardens…just bring your art supplies. |
