Sales of T-shirts and caps, our major fund-raiser for 98, have topped all expectations. The teal-colored shirts and white/green caps, featuring a sailboat on the Lakes windswept waters, have been re-ordered three times since the original order was placed in May. Ed Hinkley chaired original sales in June at the Giant Yard Sale (our first fund-raiser) clearing us of half our inventory. Sales and special orders at the July 11 Annual Meeting and Barbecue depleted our supply. Paula Smith volunteered to chair the project and continued hawking her wares throughout the summer; I helped when she was away. Rose Aikman carried a supply at her Wolf Cove B & B, contributing a few hundred extra dollars to our treasury. Thanks, Rose, for your support! Claudie and Ron Getchell, Ester Tucker, Jackie Misenheimer and Anna Lyon were just a few who bought and brought a steady stream of customers to the door. Paula will continue selling the shirts and caps from her home throughout the year. They make terrific birthday, Christmas and Chanukah gifts. T-shirts sell for $13 and caps for $10. These are GREAT prices; the shirts are Beefy-Ts (the best you can buy) 100% cotton and come in all sizes. They are: Childrens Small(6-8), Medium(10-12) and Large(14-16). Adult sizes are Med., Large, XL, XXL($15) and XXXL($17). These last two sizes come in Royal Blue. Add $3 for mailing. Paulas address is: Paula Smith, 281 Renfrew St., Arlington, MA 02174. Her phone number is (781) 646-4322. Write or call shes anxious to get your order! Next year were planning some additions. People have requested sweatshirts and a variety of t-shirt colors. The sweatshirts, ash-gray with a multi-colored embroidered TLIA logo, will sell in the $25 range. Theyre of medium weight and comfortable for cool summer evenings or in winter, over a turtleneck. T- shirts will also be featured in a lighter color, possibly white or gray, in addition to the teal. Caps will also be carried in a second color and design. Changes are good in the retail business! This will be an ongoing project. Weve already made about $800. Remember, these sales help towards repayment of our $5000 debt during the course of Project 319. Afterwards, continued profits could go towards testing of our Lake throughout the summer months; this would afford us a more complete profile of the condition of our Lake. We thank you all for your support. Its been gratifying to see all our hard work coming to fruition. Keep up the good work! |
