MAPLE SUGAR SUNDAY

For quite a few years, maple sugar on snow has been a special treat.  However, in the past few years, events have expanded, including pancake breakfasts and the sale of all things associated with maple sugar: ice cream topped with it, maple-flavored popcorn,  spun maple sugar and maple sugar candies.

Meqguire Hill Farm has enjoyed much popularity as Peter and Kathi Bolduc satisfy peoples’ curiosity with demonstrations of “sugaring-off,”  hayrides to and from the sugaring house, small animal farm for the kids and  all you can think of associated with maple sugar.    March 28 marked this year’s farm open house and hundreds attended, wearing prescribed boots for Maine’s mud season.  A perfect day and a good time was had by all.

Rae & Jeff Myers with daughters Jordan, Ashley & baby Lauren (in backpack) savor the day.
