Our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Paula Smith,
who passed away June 1, 2005, at her home in Arlington, Ma., after a
two-year battle with brain cancer.Paula and her
husband Richard had summered for the past twenty-five years on the
Garland Swamp Road where she enjoyed their beautiful gardens, birds
which flocked to their feeders and the contentment of living on the
lake.
Paula had always been involved in TLIA, most recently
as its secretary, a position she’d held since 1999. She retired from
teaching in the Wakefield (MA) school system in 2004 where she had
taught Latin and had been Chair of the Language department. An
accomplished weaver and knitter, she had planned on working with these
skills in her retirement years.
Besides
her husband, she leaves her mother, Eleanor Bacon, of Bridgewater, MA.,
and numerous friends.
She will be missed.
