SECOND ANNUAL RAFFLE UNDERWAY

TLIA’S Second Annual Super Raffle, its first fundraiser of 2000, is underway. By now, each member should have received two raffle books costing $5 each. We urge you to buy both books or sell one to a friend. Proceeds will help pay for the increased cost of testing the lake.

Terrific prizes have been donated by area business people and friends. Once again, the first prize is an overnight for two at our own Wolf Cove B&B. If you’ve not visited Rose Aikman’s retreat, you’re in for a treat! It’s relaxing and elegant and includes a bountiful breakfast as well as beautiful gardens.

The second prize is a $25 gift certificate from Rolandeau’s Restaurant in Auburn. The food and ambiance is great. The third, fourth and fifth prizes are $25 gift certificates from the Falls Country Gifts in Mechanic Falls. The shop features unique gifts and collectibles.

Other prizes include gift certificates from Future Foods in Mechanic Falls (where many of us shop all summer), and from Marois’ Restaurant in Lewiston (wonderful Greek & American food and scrumptious desserts.

Linda and John Laskey are donating a Forsythia bush, purchased from Androscoggin Soil & Water Conservation District’s Annual Plant Sale. It’s winter hardy and should do well. Wendy and John Webber are donating a gift certificate (for breakfast or pizza) from J.J’s The Elms in Mechanic Falls. Thanks so much, Laskeys and Webbers. If anyone else would like to contribute some new item to our raffle, just call. It will be most welcome.

More surprises are in store; the grand winners will be picked at our Annual Meeting on Saturday, July 8. If you can’t make the meeting, no problem. You can still be a winner. Just return checks and stubs by Monday, July 3.

Thanks again to our Chairpersons Ed Hinkley and Marion LaFlamme who sought out these prizes. And a big thank-you to Peg and Dick Harris who had the tickets printed/stapled and who will be conducting the raffle. Without these volunteers and their endless contributions, we’d be lost.

More raffles are available by calling one of the board members whose names and addresses are on the back page of this publication. They’ll also be sold at the meeting. RSVP ASAP. Thanks!
