I “volunteered” to assist in the writing and assembly of
the TLIA Newsletter and one of my assignments was to list new members
and write articles about them. First, I am going to write a brief
introduction about myself and will add more articles about newcomers in
the Spring.I moved to Tripp Lake on December
10, 2003. I’d moved to Maine in late 1976 after completing my Master’s
in Social Work, choosing Maine after having visited the State twice, and
can think of no other place that I’d want to live. Most of the past 27
years were spent in Portland, during which time I was a Child Protective
Worker, a therapist in private practice and then a Social Work Officer
in the Army Reserve. I retired from the Social Security Administrations
as a result of a chronic illness and decided to look for property on a
lake. I fell in love with Tripp and what was to become my new home on
Garland Swamp Rd. My two retired Greyhounds, Grace and Diane, made the
journey with me.
We’ve met many wonderful neighbors on our daily walks
up and down our road and Jordan Shore Drive. I absolutely love living
on the lake and feel incredibly fortunate to go to bed every night with
the lake outside my window and wake each morning with it still there.
I’ve enjoyed going for long swims and kayaking, particularly down
Winterbrook.
I’ve many projects in and around my house, enough to
keep me busy for some time to come. In my spare time, I’m a Hospice
volunteer and find it to be one of the most rewarding activities that
I’ve ever done. I’ve two grown sons, the youngest a massage therapist
and the oldest (who’s getting married on October 25) a Culinary School
student.
