DEMO TOUR CAPS PROJECT

The wrap-up of The Tripp Lake Demonstration Project funded by Clean Water Act, Section #319, was held on July 19 at 5 p.m. at the Public Beach. Tours of five of the seven Demonstration sites, began at the Public Beach and ended at Fernald Road. Thirteen members and friends attended, bringing box suppers: cold drinks and cookies were supplied by TLIA. The group had a golden opportunity to absorb much of what has been accomplished these past two years.

The leaders of the tour, Phoebe Hardesty (AVSWCD), Cynthia Kuhns (LWRMA) and Susan Redmond (Americorps volunteer with AVSWCD) explained the conservation practices installed at the Public Beach, as well as at Gerri and Bill Tinkham’s (Jordan Shore Drive), Peter Quinn’s (Garland Swamp Road), Paula and Richard Smith’s (Garland Swamp Road) and on Fernald Road (which included several areas). The two other areas not visited were Janet Tillson’s (Jordan Shore Dr.) and the North Raymond Rd., where new ditching was installed by the Town.

Those attending were Dell and Judy King, Art Dunlap, Charlie Rodway, Robert Erickson, Bill and Gerri Tinkham, Paula Smith, Ron and Claudie Getchell, Bob and Jackie Misenheimer, Jamie Rothfus and Babs Shapiro.

It was a beautiful evening and a wonderful way to finish this important first step in our long-term educational plan. An agreement with the District included the stipulation that all these Projects be open to the public for inspection for the next two years for ideas and help.

It’s our hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity and check them out. They’ve done a great job!
