A decision was made by the Town of
Poland to cut many old, diseased trees at the Public Beach early this
Spring, leaving it bare and very cluttered. Perennials, bushes and other
plantings established by TLIA as buffers in the past few years might have
been damaged as a result. However,
further investigation will determine just how much damage was done.
(It initially looked like a bomb hit the area).
An
Americorps volunteer working in the Poland Community School has offered
trees to be planted in appropriate areas.
Hopefully, groups will be cleaning up and replanting in the near
future. If you’re called
upon to help, please say “yes!” If
you’re not called but would like to help, please call Linda Laskey and
alert her. Many thanks!
