For years, those of us who have grown
up on Tripp Lake, have referred to the large granite slab on the western
shore of the lake, near the Campgrounds, as Indian Rock.
Viewed from a certain angle, heading towards it from the
northeastern shore, its “head” is proudly tilted back, gazing skyward,
solemnly guarding the lake.
With
all respect due The Old Man of the Mountains, whose famous profile came
crashing down this past year, we submit to you our Native American, Old
Man of the Lake.
