“NEIGHBORS”
|
By Susan Barry TLIA Board
Member Jacqueline Misenheimer received her
secondary education in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High
School. She went on to receive a BA in Psychology from Central
Connecticut State University and later earned a Master’s Degree in
Educational Psychology/Special Education from Rutger’s University.
Jacqui has been involved with education for 29
years. She began her career in New Jersey where, as an intern, she
helped found “The Eden Institute” for autistic children. Happy to have
now come full circle, Jacqui oversees the Special Education Program at
ELHS which consists of 14 teachers, 13 education technicians, an
occupational therapist, a physical therapist and a speech clinician.
This Fall she has been working extra hours at EL in an effort to help
attain the high school’s ten-year re-accreditation. And if that’s not
enough to keep her busy, she dances. She became interested in dance
while in college, jazz and ballet being her preferences. She has
studied with the Princeton Ballet in NJ, various dance troupes in NY,
and The Casco Bay Movers in Portland. In addition, she has taught dance
at Bates College, The Elizabeth Hanson Dance Center and the Casco Bay
Movers. She also enjoys practicing Yoga for the relaxation it offers. |
Jacqui and her husband Bob met at
the United Baptist Church in Lewiston where they sang in the choir. She
insists that neither of them can carry a tune in a bushel basket! Bob
grew up in Louisiana and was transferred to Maine with International
Paper Company in Jay. Jacqui is step-mom to Bob’s son, Jeff, a Kentucky
firefighter. Jeff and his wife are presently expecting their second
child.
Jacqui has been a member of TLIA for five years and
feels it is imperative that we work diligently to keep Tripp Lake
healthy and do whatever is possible to discourage any threat to its
vitality.
We consider it a plus that they now live among us here
on Tripp. |
