THE DRUM CIRCLE

Co-Hosts Judy and Dell King wait for festivities to begin.

Oh, what fun!  For those of you who missed the first Drum Circle, you missed an evening of belly laughs.

TLIA member Howard Sherman, musician and musical therapist, led a group of lively participants through deep breathing exercises, rhythms and singing on the evening of July 26, on Judy and Dell King’s deck.  Using a variety of drums, the circle of people imitated and alternated beats and instruments. It was supposed to be an exercise in spirituality, relaxation and reducing stress. If music is good for the soul and laughter is good for your health, we all benefited.

Judy and Dell King’s guests were (and anyone could come) Jean and John Mangini,  Babs and Mike Shapiro, Ruth and Pierre Desjardins, Linda Laskey, George Kelly, Joel, Jamie, Anna, Talia and Drew Rothfus and Terry and Howie Sherman.  Some arrived early and brought picnic suppers.  All were treated to coffee and desserts following the session.  Thanks go to the Shermans, the Kings, Linda Laskey and Ruth Desjardin for providing relaxation and refreshments.

Next year, don’t be bashful.  Come and join the fun!  No musical background necessary.
