To the families and friends of those

Alice Coolidge, 86,
of Poland, died on Nov. 24, 2004. She lived on Bakerstown Rd., and
leaves her husband, Wilbur , son Jeff (who owns Independent Machine on
Bakerstown Rd.), daughter, Joyce, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irving Groves, 85,
of Poland, died on March 17. He was a woodsman, master carpenter and
owner of Poland Mining Camps on Rt. 26. He enjoyed mineral collecting,
fishing and hunting. His wife, Mary, will continue running his legacy,
the mining camp. He also leaves a daughter, Joanne, and several
grandchildren. (See article by Harriet Doolittle, which includes a story

Edward Heath, Sr.,
69, of Tripp Lake, Poland, died on March 9. He was an attorney
in Mechanic Falls and in recent years worked with the VA Board of
Veterans Appeals in Washington, DC, specializing in radiation exposure,
prisoner of war and post traumatic stress disorder issues. He was
active in the Disabled American Veterans Association and served as
counsel for veterans until his retirement in 1996. He leaves his wife,
Sylvia, seven children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis Strout,
86, of Mechanic Falls, died on May 9. She was the wife of
Clayton Strout, who died in 1980, and mother of Clayton Strout (owner of
Strout Marine Services in Poland) and his wife, Harriet, who are owners
of a home on Tripp Lake. She’s also survived by grandchildren and other
family members.
