CLEANUPS AT PUBLIC BEACH

Wayne Cotterly, Mike Limerick and Boy Scouts take pride in their work

Not once, but twice this year, did we get groups to clean up the Public Beach.

Poland Boy Scout Troop #125 proved to be a big asset. I’d met Mike Limerick, the leader, at the Poland Town Meeting in April and asked if they’d be interested in helping us. He was most agreeable and, after a few calls, a date was firmed up. On June 22, Mike and friend Wayne Cotterly brought five energetic youngsters to help Doug Carbone and myself de-trash the beach. (All were intent on gaining their public service badges.)

The boys, Andrew Cotterly (11), Ben Limerick (10), Stephen Limerick (13), Zach Hews (13) and Daniel Roberts (10) cheerfully pitched in, picking up trash and hauling it away. I hope we can count on them next year.. We truly appreciated their help.

TLIA’s annual cleanup was held on Sunday, July 14, at 9 a.m. when several members again picked up the beach. These helpers were Joseph Kneeland, Jacqueline Misenheimer, Susan Carbone, George Kelley and Babs Shapiro. Others, including Wendy, Charlotte and Ben Webber, Jamie, Anna, Talia and Drew Rothfus, cleaned up other areas of the lake.

Clockwise: Joe Kneeland, Babs Shapiro, George Kelley, Susan Carbone and Jacqui Misenheimer

All in all, the lake has profited from the stewardship of these attentive, dedicated people, and we thank them very much for their continuous efforts.
